FAQ

Located a stone's throw away from the scenic Kovalam Eve's beach, our dental center has had the pleasure of treating patients from India and abroad.
My tooth doesn’t hurt. Do I still need a dental check-up?

Yes. Cavities and gum disease can develop without pain in their early stages. Regular check-ups help detect problems when treatment is usually simpler.

Why do my gums bleed when I brush?

Bleeding gums are commonly caused by plaque buildup and gum inflammation, though other factors can contribute. Persistent bleeding should be evaluated rather than simply avoiding brushing that area.

Can a badly damaged tooth always be saved with root canal treatment?

Not always. Root canal treatment can save many infected teeth, but the tooth must have enough healthy structure and adequate bone and gum support to be restored successfully.

Do I really need to replace a missing tooth?

In many cases, yes. Leaving a gap can allow neighbouring teeth to shift, affect chewing and bite, and contribute to bone loss; implants, bridges, or dentures may be considered depending on the situation.

Why are my teeth sensitive to cold water?

Sensitivity can occur due to worn enamel, gum recession, cavities, cracks, grinding, or exposed tooth roots. If it persists or affects a particular tooth, it is better to have the cause checked.

Does every wisdom tooth have to be removed?

No. A healthy wisdom tooth that has erupted properly and can be kept clean may not require removal. Extraction is usually considered when there is pain, infection, decay, damage to nearby teeth, or another clinical reason.

Is teeth whitening harmful to my teeth?”

Professionally supervised whitening is generally considered safe when performed appropriately. Temporary tooth sensitivity or gum irritation can occur, so the teeth and gums should ideally be evaluated before whitening.

My child’s baby tooth has a cavity. Can we just wait for it to fall out?

Not necessarily. Untreated decay can cause pain, infection, difficulty eating, and premature loss of the tooth, which may affect the space available for permanent teeth.

Why do I have bad breath even though I brush every day?

Bad breath can come from tongue coating, gum disease, cavities, dry mouth, tobacco use, or food trapped between teeth. If the mouth is healthy, other causes such as tonsil, sinus, reflux, or certain medical problems may need evaluation.

How often should I get my teeth cleaned?

There is no single schedule for everyone; the interval depends on your gum health, plaque and tartar buildup, medical history, and individual risk. Your dentist can recommend an appropriate recall and cleaning schedule after examining you.
